Welcome to the forum!
Are you just removing/replacing the parking brake shoes, or the cable as well? If just the shoes, you should not need to remove the cable from the knuckle. If you provide the details of what you're trying to do, I can provide the relevant sections from the factory service manual.

I am removing the entire knuckle -- because I need to replace the wheel hub/bearing assembly and cannot get it to break apart - so there is a machine shop which will press out the bearings and re-press the new ones in but I need to bring the whole knuckle assembly to them. I can get the brake caliber off, the emergency brake shoes off, the rotor off, the axle disengaged and all nuts/bolts loose but it seems to be holding on by the emergency brake cable. It looks like if I compress the two pieces and make them overlap they may slide through but I figured I would check here first before twisting and prodding------Thanks-------Pat
