Any flat V8s with FACTORY PS?

A guy on the flathead forum is looking for a picture of the factory PS pump and mount, belts, etc as used on '53 - '54 flat V8's. I can't say I've ever seen one, but I am sure they are out there. He's mostly interested in the factory setup, but if you've made one, he'd probably like to see that too.

TIA

I have a copy of the 1953 Ford Car Power Steering Shop Manual, and I have a friend with all the parts necessary to put power steering into his '53 Mercury. No pictures unfortunately.

I have seen an article on the web about a company that makes a mount to put a pump in place of fan. Here it is: Ford Flathead Power Steering System | Rod & Custom Magazine Article at Automotive.com

Thanks for the info! This guy is aware of the type that replaces the fan, his car doesn't have room for it. If your friend has any pics later they'd be appreciated.

Mostly just need a picture of how they did it; 3-groove crank pulley? bracket to mount the pump? etc.

Ford had a 3 groove crank pulley and mounted the pump on the driver's side head. Piston and valve setup was very similar to normal Ford power steering through the early 60s.

By "piston and valve setup" do you mean the ram on the drag link, with valve in a drag link end?

I figured it had to involve a 3-groove pulley, even with the twin narrow belts I can't see how else you'd do it.
