Tunning and Warranty Question

Tunning and Warranty Question
I have 2010 PSD with a 6.4 and have been reading this site for the last year and love all of the info out there. I have a question that I haven't been able to find an answer or similar situation to. I am wanting to tune the truck to improve MPG and reliability/longevity. I have narrowed it down to the common recomendations of either the Spartan or SCT with the DPF/Cat delete and going with stock tune or maybe 210/250 nothing extremem is wanted, truck has plenty of power for me right now. My question is has anyone with these tunes (or similar paroducts) had warranty repairs done after MODS. Specifically any codes or electronic diagnosis requirements. And if so was it a fight with the dealer to get them to honor warranty work. I live in CA so I know I will have to return the truck to OEM stock tune and exhaust bi-annually for SMOG and will do so anytime truck goes into dealer while under warranty. So is it true that they can really see a track history of the PCM and that it has been tuned even though I return it back to the stock tune? Concerned of really voiding the warranty especally after I got Ford Motor company to purchase me an extended warranty because of all of the hassle I have already had with their repairs shops. Nothing big, they just haven't performed to a standard I feel to be exceptable on a $60,000 dollar rig. Thanks for all of you input.

I have doen my fair share of work on tuned trucks.. I think most of us have.
I have also had more then one persons warranty voided. most of them do to attempts at disception. the one thing I hate is being lied to and people beliving Im a fool and to stuipd to figure it out. I assure you IM not the only tech that feels this way either.
another bit to think about...
look at it this way you want the people working on your truck to be dumb enugh not to notice things being changed and played with yet smart enugh to fix it... good luck on this one
we can see lots of stuff and have ways to figure things out. some of the info is there some is simple observation.
this is my thoughts and experence speaking. not ment to sound bashing it just is what it is.

Not trying to decive anyone, but if i have a water pump go out i don't need them to say it is because of the tune. have had my fair share of problems before with warranty work. love the truck just extremely concerned about the longevity of it due to the excessive heat from the DPF system and problems that will cause. Obviously if I tuned it 500 hp over stock and blew the tranny that would be hard to hide, not what I want to do.

This is my suggestion from experience before u do any mods talk to the service manager and feel him out....get to know these guys...and. like cheeseit said don't lie....also im not sure where in ca you live but dealers that are more rural areas have different views than the big city dealers.....good luck

NO I dont think thats the case whatso ever. I dont mean to come off that way. it just is what it is. If you get left holding a bag of damaged goods atleast you know its possible before hand.
thats the only point Im tring to get at.views on mods change at the dealer level by who draws the repair order and what manager is on duty.
For the most part I dont care what anyone does with their truck. But sometimes as a tech we dont have options to help and overlook.
Just dont think your going to find a tech that can fix the truck and figure out its been modded. If your smart enugh to figure out whats broken and why odds are your not exactly slow.
