timing chain with multiple adv/rtd postions

I cracked a sleeve in the 400 motor that i was running in my mud dragger a few weekends ago and best solution i could come up with in short time was a 460 from a late 70s or early 80s lincoln. I have limited experience with the 460s but I remember the later 460s have a serious retarded timing situation for emissions, but i cant remember how much. I had picked up a used timing chain sometime back for a 460 and it has slots for 2,4, and 6 degrees adv and 2,4 and 60 degrees retard on the crank gear. Which postion would be the best to use for its stock condition to wake it up, and also what would be the best postion after i add a cam?

Advancing the timing lowers the rpm powerband, retarding it pushes the powerband higher in rpm range. Can't advise on what would be best for your application.
