An Oxnard man was arrested Sunday afternoon after his vehicle crashed into incoming traffic during a street race with another vehicle, Oxnard police said.
The crash happened about 1 p.m. when two Corvettes were racing eastbound on Camino del Sol, said Cmdr. Andrew Salinas.
One of the drivers, Samuel Mata, 28, lost control of his vehicle and collided with two other vehicles that were traveling in the opposite direction, police said. A sport utility vehicle was overturned and the driver was extricated by the Oxnard Fire Department, Salinas said.
Two people were taken to a hospital for moderate injuries, Salinas said.
The driver of the other Corvette sped away from the scene, Salinas said.
Mata was arrested on suspicion of speed contest and felony DUI.
