Mark - Thank you - I specifically meant the Button,, my bad.
HHowell - Too far to drive with a risky Transmission - 3 hours total.

Everyone!!! OK OK,, I submit - I will go get codes read....

I just feel like this is some gummed up valve body,, I mean,, after all,, I actually have blown transmissions before.. MANY in fact.. Never had one this freakin Stealthy when it blew though...... Reading Codes tells me that this is going to be bad, and it appears no one has ever had good luck with one of these transmissions when it goes Feminine on ya.

Just in Case.... Where is the Best Place to buy a Recon Transmission.. I will do it myself,, Send me your best Websites.... I AM NOT giving some shop 3000 dollars for a 1/2 day Job...

Please also tell me how to get away from the Mechanical Diode, just in case I have that.. I dont ever want that thing creeping around my truck again!

I went with a BTS. It's going to be more than 3k though. Give Brian a call and you will see why people like him. I guarantee he will help you try to fix it over the phone before he lets you buy anything from him.

Did you drain the fluid and drop the pan as suggested?
When mine did this the OD was shot and had to rebuild it.

I think the next step is to read the codes with a reader that can read Ford transmission codes. When the OD light flashes a code is stored in the PCM. It stays in the PCM for about a month after the last time the light flashed, unless someone disconnects the PCM or the batteries.

I had a problem with mine not shifting out of second gear and it wound up being one on the little (I don't know what to call it) pins that transfers the fluid to shift gears. It developed a burr on it and got stuck. I was already committed to a BTS trans so I had him build mine. Great piece of mind knowing I'll never have to worry about the tranny again. Mine didn't through any codes either.

I see a few ways to approach this since you erased the codes that would have told us where to start.

Drive it until the OD light flashes again meaning the codes are back. Or you could rebuild the trans, that will probably, but not certainly fix it. Or you could pull the valve body and see if there are any stuck valves.

You let it go dead by waiting a week between posts so there was no feedback to the posters who were trying to help you. I would follow the suggestion that Mark made in post #23, I'd drive it until the tranny threw a code and then be prepared to scan it with a scanner that can read the codes (then post the results to a NEW THREAD titled: "Pulled Codes #xxxx, any ideas?") OR I'd pull the valve body and see if I could find a problem. In the new thread you could recap the symptoms and what has occurred to date.

So are you saying you retrieved P0728 and P0768? I don't even see those numbers in the Trouble Code Charts.

Well,, this is still a problem - Today I changed the Fluid, Filter and Solenoid Pack.. The fluid was fairly clear,, a little brown, not excessive,, I cant smell really but i dont think it was "burnt" the magnetic chip detector had a pretty good amount of black junk on it, but I wouldnt call it excessinve,, all black stuff, maybe about 1/16" thick or so? no other noticeable issues, no shiny stuff or sludge anywhere else in the pan.. .... So,, anyone have any more ideas?
