Free first DEF fill and/or oil change?
Did not want to hyjack another thread, and could not find answers with my searches, but I kept finding folks reference a free DEF fill and free first oil change. Are these automatic? Or is there a coupon to pull down from somewhere? Or was this a limited time special?
I only have 1200 miles on mine, but thought I'd tuck it away for later if something really does exist.

My truck was delivered Oct 30th 2011 and the free oil change and DEF refill were a dealer perk that was offered to me. At that time if I remember right the factory was offering the first refill of DEF free. That may not be the case now. By the way my DEF was not completely full at the factory and I had to have it refilled at 6000 miles.

My dealer said Oil free. But there was a Factory item on the DEF. I was 1200 miles from home when my DEF warning came on. I was towing so that uses up DEF MUCH FASTER and the Dealer did not warn me that was the case. So I stopped at Ohio dealer and he gave me some paperwork to see if the DEF rebait was still on. But I think it is expired.

I got a brochure in the mail a couple of days ago from Ford, but it included some dealership-specific items, like an Owner Advantage Rewards card, and a coupon for a complimentary oil change... oh wait, there's an asterisk next to it? *Limited to 5 quarts, diesels, taxes, and disposal fees extra? Harrumph. I want totally FREEEEEEE!!!

I had heard of guys getting free first oil changes so when I took delivery of my truck I asked the salesman if I could get a free first oil change and he said ok.
I also got a card from Ford in the mail shortly after I got my truck that gives me a free DEF fill. Fine print says "One fill per VIN within one year of warranty start date. Vehicle mileage must be less than 10,000 miles. Program ends 12/31/2011."
So, I will get my oil change and def fill in the next month or so and then my DEF fill when it needs it next or at 9,999 miles, whichever comes first
I took delivery in December of 2010 by the way.

When the trucks first came out and nobody knew what DEF was or where to buy it. Ford offered the first refill for free to boost acceptance. Now that DEF is pretty common and widely available in most truck stops and parts stores, the first fill up is not a big deal. Go into you local Walmart and buy a 2.5gallon jug for $12 and do it yourself.
The free oil change was a promotion last fall. Actually you had to pay for the oil change and submit a rebate coupon to get $50 back.
The owners advantage has a perk of every 5th oil change being free. So if you let the dealer do your oil changes, Definitely sign up for the Owners Advantage club.
Anything above and beyond these offers is just your dealer sweeting the deal on your purchase or are new programs for the summer to encourage new owners to use the service bays of the dealership.

The dealer did my first oil change of the factory oil and it was $107 but I got the free DEF fill; however much they added.
And that was 2 quarts over charged, too (15 qts billed).
I have taken care of the previous two changes.
Cost me $74.10 the first time I changed it using the proper filter and Motorcraft Diesel 15w-40.
That's not including DEF because I don't consider DEF a part of the oil change process.

I just had the dealer change mine last week. It was my 5th oil change, So it was free on the Ford Owners Adantage, But the invoice should the normal price of $72.00 if I would have paid.
$220 seems very excessive for just an oil change. More like the cost for oil change and fuel filter change.
