want more MPG'S V10

I just bought an F350 CC 4x4 with the V10. I was wondering if there is anything that would help with the MPG on the HWY? The guy I bought the truck from said it will get 13-14 on the interstate. Is this the norm and thats the best you can hope for?
Thanks for the info!
Matt

8-10mpg city 10-14 highway...not much your gonna do other then go light with your right foot. nice thing about the V10s is they are consistent, i can count on 8-10mpg every fillup lol

sorry, but theres not much your going to be able to do to the V10. its alot like the 460, it gets 10mpg loaded or empty nature of the beast.

Hi Matt. 13-14 is pretty good and you probably won't see much better than that. Keep in mind you are moving a LOT of weight and using 10 cylinders to do it. I did get 17.4 MPG on one trip, but I think it was a once in a lifetime deal.

As been said in this thread and many others, your driving a heavy truck with 10 cylinders that need to be fed. Heck if your actually getting that it's not that bad.

The Lie-O-Meter says I get 11.5. My calculations say 10.7. and that is with both all around freeway and city driving. Towing a light Utility trailer, (12X5). There are no aftermarket Items that will help. Other than to help you get rid of some of your money.

Its a drag but you still can not beat that motor..

Matt, I would say depending on your exact truck config, thats probably about it, and not too bad either. Here is a paste from a previous post of mine:

That is every single fillup from my first until now[edit:that is a few months old now]. If you guys are talking about what the dashboard mpg reads I can get 15's in the summer mostly highway most of the time. However the dash reads very consistantly .7 high, I have never broke 15 hand calculated. Winter dips down 2-3mpg easy. BTW the ones that spike down I am probably towing, I have notes on each fillup, but that doesnt show in the graph.

My milleage from my first fillup to now is 12.9MPG and thats including EVERYTHING (towing, winter, highway, city, etc). Thats 2,542 gallons of gas and 32,849 miles. Yeah I'm a numbers nerd.

I just purchased a F-250 with the V10 and I got 13.8 mpg's on a approx 160 mile trip. You guys are making me feel good about that.
I'll be towing a 8600 lb loaded travel trailer for weekend camping trips. What kind of mpg's should I expect?
First tow with the trailer should be later this week.

Same here, it always makes me feel good comparing MPGs with a new Dodge Cummins vs my V10 to.

4-11 mpg depending on how much air you are pushing and the fuel.
Speed and headwinds make a HUGE impact due to the pressure drag. The weight of the trailer is less of a factor unless you're doing a lot of city or mountain climbing.

Personally, I try to limit my cruise speed to around 60 to 65. With neutral wind, I average about 7.5 to 9 depending on amount of grades and the fuel. CA gas on the low end, Oregon or Nevada gas provides the higher end. I once got 10.5, but that was with a moderate tail wind.
I did 75 across Nevada once with about a 10-20 mpg headwind. 5 mpg even with non-Cali gas. Ouch. Slowed back down to 60 after that tank!

I'd be jumping for joy if I got that kind of MPG out of my V10. No matter what I do or change I'm stuck between 7.5-9.0 MPG on my 250. No matter if I'm empty or loaded, it stays the same. I've tried computer chips, tuners, no matter what I do I can't seem to get anything better.
