heater blows defrost only

Hoping someone can help me! I have a 2001 Ex and yesterday I noticed the heater will only blow on defrost mode. It has been working on all modes (floor, vents, etc). Does this sound like a vacuum problem? Solenoid?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you have a vaccum leak..... check the vaccum lines under the hood

You can, but the best place to look, if you have a 4x4, is the front hubs. Probably the vacuum line going to the front hub.

Thanks.
I went and took a look around under the hood. Poked and prodded, fiddled. Now it works again??

You can lightly spray the various vacuum connectors with intake cleaner (not carb cleaner) - when the idle changes you found your leak.

Went looking around the front hub. Found the drivers side metal vacuum hose attachment just about ready to break off. Lots of vacuum sucking noise from this area. Next stop Ford parts to buy a new nipple attachment before it does break!
