Is this an original factory IP?

Hello again,

I cleaned up my old IP and I was wandering if it was an original to the truck (1991) or if it had been replaced years ago.

Here are some pictures of it.

Could be either that or it was last rebuilt by an authorized Stanadyne rebuilder Here is a picture of the lable off mine witch was rebuilt by a shop out of San Antonio TX.:

And here is a picture of the pump

Hard to say for sure but definitely possible.

x2 on that. most rebuilders will put on their own badge. that one has either been replaced by the authorized rebuilder as stated above OR whomever rebuilt it didnt label it.

My 1990 7.3 has it's original IP, never been removed from the engine.

Once I get it off, I can clean it up and see what she looks like. Be interesting to see it clean, been covered by an inch of oil and grease for god knows how many years!

I thought it was rebuilt. All of those red screw locking blobs seem like a dead giveaway. I have no clue when it was rebuilt, though. I think the truck has 150K on it but I need to do a car-fax to find out for sure. If my U-haul pump doesn't act any better after timing, the old pump is going back in. I hate to do it but I need a running truck, not a parking lot ornament. When I get my timing meter, some time this year, I will set the timing and hopefully the truck will run better.

Stanadyne produces two kind of labels. Red and Black, red is factory and black are the remans. Being that the label isnt restamped and the housing is dirty, i would bet it was just a internal focused rebuild. The ford factory turbo manual has the pics. So does stanadyne.

Takes a bit of tweaking but even after the jackasses set my timing, i still re did it because my economy went to ****. Set it where i needed and i still have a crap ton of power and great mpgs. Oh that is manual timing or by ear. if you can beat 17mpg with a c6 and 4.10's ill admit it but still have yet to see the need for the meter.

How do time by ear. I just put new injectors in. Timing marks are dead even. My pump looks rebuilt no grey paint. The injectors had grey paint on them. Seems to have more go. Will see how much go when I load her up with trailer she should be about 16k.

All the paint blobs are rebuild signs. It would be gray if it was original. Not all rebuilders put the correct tag colors on, or even change them.

I don't know if they came from the factory that way but the paint (blobs) are so that if tampered with it will show by breaking the paint witch is a special formulation just for that purpose It is fairly common in a lot of industrial situations where you need to know if someone has messed with an adjustment and will often void the warranty if the seals are broken or missing. it also tells if the adjustment has been tampered with after it left the shop.

could be all of those things or a guy and a paint pen/model paint to make it seem it was rebuilt. to set the timing by ear, or my method is to have a little rattle at idle when warm but if i rev slightly it evens out and rattle goes away. My EGT's are solid, mpg is 17, and truck can slip sideways on dry pavement. Granted i dont get 17mpg when jackassin around but you get the idea.
