Long time member of FTE but this is my first Exped (usually I spend time over in the older 7.3 diesel section)
This is my patrol vehicle for my Sheriffs Office (pics below), but we purchased 3 expeds (2 ELs and 2 reg length).
1 Lariat 4x4
1 XLT4x4
1 Eddie Bauer 4x4 (mine)
We were hunting for SSVs but finding an SSV w/4x4 (since our county is very rural) was impossible.
We are having grill guard installed next week (Im going to install some extra off-road lights that I have sitting in my garage) and its getting stripped tomorrow morning.
So far I really like the truck. We drove it about 5hrs today (to wichita falls and back) on a transport to the state hospital. There are a few things I dont like though (until I find out how to change the settings). I am a fairly tall guy and w/my first key the seat moves all the way back and the seatback folds all the way down. If I use the other key, the seat crushes be up against the steering wheel....it looks pretty funny or so I hear. Im searching on how to disable that feature.
*figured it out! no more being crushed against the wheel! woohoo!!!*
Mine is the Exped on the right!
Snapped a few more today now that she has her stripes

I am sure you will be putting miles on in a hurry. We have 55,000 on our 2007. We have two recurring problems. 1. Front seat will stop moving back and forth but all other adjustments work. When fixed under warranty they replaced the control module under the seat. When it happened out of warranty I bought the part and changed it myself. Now the seat will adjust correctly but will not maintain memory settings. Also, the easy exit feature where it moves back just a bit before exiting doesn't work but I hate that feature anyway. 2. The A/C will just stop working. This will happen on extended trips. The A/C will stop working after we have been driving four hours or so. We stop shut the Expedition off and let it set for five min or so. After starting again it works fine. Not sure of the problem as I need to get out my old paperwork and see what the problem was when it was covered under warranty.
I would get a AI in your county just to ride in the back of one of those.... LOL just kidding but on the real those are nice. My local sheriff department just recently bought a couple of suv's but they are little. I think there called dodge nitros
You're gonna feel a lot better after riding around in one of these all day long than the even the big Crown Vic sedans (unless the sheriff is buying Town Cars)!
