Talking Blowers for the 5.4

Quick question - I have a 99 5.4 350 4x4 Standard cab - dog dog dog! Dont get me wrong, it pulls great but on the highway it's constant downshifting on grades is driving me bananas SO I am thinking blowers.

I have installed centrifugal SC's on two past cars so I have some experience, but am wondering about SD's. I am thinking centrifugal again due to the torgue in my low end being there already - more low end grunt will only be a waste and I generally don't tow heavy trailers so it's really not needed. A centrifugal will give me better mid and upper range which is where I'll use it.

So the questions;

1. Anyone have one on their 350 5.4?
2. Did it make a big difference?
3. Any suggestions on make? I'm thinking Vortech right now, put the Paxton Novi is another good one I've heard.

I know mileage may dip somewhat, but with the blowby valve on the newer units it may make up for itself since I wont have to constantly flog this beast to get it to stay at highway speeds on long grades.

Any thoughts are appreciated, thanks guys (and girls)

Mike

Mike, I'd love to know if you ever put a blower on this truck.

no company makes a bolt on kit. you have to piece together one from a ford lightning. And i read a good thread on a kid who did one on his lifted 5.4 Super Duty and he wasn't very happy with it from what he wrote.... power hit way to high in the power band, bad MPG, etc

That's the problem with using a centri blower on a low revving motor...especially in a truck

I had the RoushCharger on my 2006 F-150 w/ 5.4 3v. Let me tell you, that was a fun ride. Full 6 psi of boost at 1,000 rpm and always present across the entire rpm range if you want/need it

P.S. nice revival. Probably the oldest I've seen resurrected
