Missy calls 'em Mexican Wedding cookies. My mom made 'em too but the recipe was from Betty Crocker's cookbook. From the web search:
"This favorite holiday cookie is known by many different names around the world, such as Mexican Wedding Cakes, Russian Teacakes, Swedish Tea Cakes, Italian Butter Nut, Southern Pecan Butterball, Snowdrop, Viennese Sugar Ball, Sand Tarts, and Snowball. Butterballs. They always contain finely chopped nuts and are twice rolled in powdered sugar. These cookies always seem to be a favorite of men and also a favorite Christmas Cookie.
This recipe is originally from a 1950's Betty Crocker's Cookbook."

Well, I'm a Marine and I want to keep up with my manly persona by sharing my cookie recipe with you gents:
preheat over to 350 F with the baking sheet in the oven. If you don't preheat the baking sheet the bottoms of the cookies won't cook.
Mix:
1 box of cake mix ("moist" cake mix works best)
2 eggs
1/2 cup oil
a cup or so of chocolate chips, candies, or whatever you'd like.
Mix together and use a teaspoon to make dough ***** and bake for 9 to 11 minutes. Let them cool to harden up.
My personal favorites are:
1. vanilla cake with white chocolate chips and sometimes Heath bar chunks (found in baking section of grocery store). I usually dye them blue and give them to my Jewish friends haha.
2. chocolate/fudge cake mix with chopped up Andes mints.
Enjoy!
