HEATED, PRYED, FLARE NUT WRENCHES,

Had to cut the crossover pipe which runs from exhaust manifold to other.

Having to helicoil head manifold bolt holes.

Manifold has center 1/8" warp and I can take this out in my machine shop.

Could not get the nuts off.
1995 f250 5.8 4x4 E40D

Can I just plug the exhaust manifold ports where the crossover pipe connected the two manifolds thereby eliminating the pipe completely?

What is the purpose of the crossover pipe?

Also, the a/c blows cold but when the fan is turned on with the a/c, it seems a vacuun switch, or whatever, restricts the airflowfrom the vents, without a/c I have full blow ventilation., any ideas?

JUST BOUGHT THIS TRUCK FOR 1500.00 , NO REAR BRAKES, 219000 MILES
CONPRESSION 120 ALL AROUND, SOUND O.K??

Thanks so much
God Bless
John

I'm guessing that you are talking about the air injection tube that runs across the back of the engine & connects to the back of the heads. If you broke the bolts off that hold the assembly on, it is not a problem. The ports are threaded. 5/8ths bolt with 11 threads per inch (std coarse thread) will screw right in after cleaning. Coat with antiseize.

AC problem:

On the far passenger side of the engine compartment, at the corner of the firewall is a vacume solinoid. Trace the white vacum line that feeds it & repair the leak.

The tube attaches to the back of both the exhaust manifolds and connects the two. The two nuts which thread into the manifold are
1 1/4 " and the tube mates with a flare fitting.

I don't think this is part of the "air injection system , but correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks for your help. Any futher will be much appreciateded.

The F250/350 trucks frequently have a different Air injection setup than the half-tons. Yes, that tube is for the air injection system. They can be pesky to remove as you have found.

If you live in an area without smog checks, the pipe can be eliminated.

I read somewhere on here that if you remove that tube, it will affect the O2 sensor(s) and cause the computer to adjust the air/fuel mix in all kinds of crazy ways. I'll see if I can find the link.

The air tube is after the O2 sensor therefore there is no effect on it's operation. Many of us, including me, no longer have that tube running to the converter. In my case I now have a modern (2009) 3-way converter installed, no air injection required.
