blower motor upgrade
so, i know we have tossed around the subject before... ive done a few searches on here and google but havent found anyone that did a different blower. theres people asking about any upgrade, people telling them to check their vent flaps but nobody with an actual swap. ive heard from you guys that you heard someone that did a crown vic blower. before i go and spend money id like to know what will work. i was lookin at my dads psd blower, looks pretty close. about the same size, ill have to wait til he goes outta town in my moms car so i can tear it apart and see if it will fit in my box lol. one guy said something about running a different relay. said having better voltage made a world of a difference in the speed. might hook up a 12v supply straight to it to see if that does anything. if not, ill look around for something else. any ideas would be good....

The trick is to improve the ground to the blower. I have a ground wire going directly from my battery to my blower fan motor. That really made a world of difference in fan speed.
Next, I set up a relay with a big hot going straight to the battery to the fan. Everything works normally but I have a "turbo" fan toggle switch to throw the relay and run the fan directly off of the battery.
These 2 changes together, give fan speeds comparable to a modern vehicle. Maybe not quite as good, but I will put it this way, I stayed cool all day in it in 107 degree temps last week, and its a super cab with bad weather stripping.
Let me know if you want any specifics on this or have any questions.

I had the same problem with mine. Tried a couple different fan motors, neither helped much. One day I was messing around under the hood while it was running with the ac on high when I felt cold air blowing on the back of my hand. A closer look and I discovered my air box was leaking at the seams and about half my air was blowing out under the hood. Sealed up all the leaks and now my AC works great. Check for air leaks around the air box.

I'm a huge fan of the roll down the windows myself, much to the dismay of my passengers. I will admit in the year I've owned my truck, I've used the A/C twice. It was about 130, and I was towing a trailer during the summer, freaking broiling up that mountain road.
