[Risking admonishment from the mods....]

She was helping with a project. She tightened a couple of nuts.

easy , drive barefoot with tacks on the loud pedal

most i ever had was 16.4 ish in my 6.8 driving like my grt grt grandfather
for about 800 mile round trip.

unless you count the downhill bits where i take my foot off the gas, press the reset button and tell the wife 'this really is an economical vehicle' as it shows 30+ mpg for a while lol

the 6.8 was never built for MPG imo.

You could try hydrogen, they are stripping it from water with electricity.
The company peddling/selling this is in Canada, they are testing on over the road trucks now.

That's a realistic number, not 32!

Get rid of 4WD, low geared towing axels, and ethanol gas and above all take your foot out of it. Slower speeds, no idling, and no AC will help. The big V10 sucks the gas when idling. A tuner may help a little as well.

Oh yeah, contrary to popular belief the brake pedal wastes more gas than the accelerator. It is not how fast you accelerate it is how often you use the brakes. Anytime you stop the vehicle or slow it down you have to make that momentum back up which takes energy=gas. That is why hybrids do so well around town is because they use that braking energy to charge the batteries. So slow down before you get to stop lights so you don't waste so much energy. Try to coast before you stop. I have found that occasional full throttle operation during passing does not seem to hurt gas miliage very much because I don't slam on my brakes when I get around the guy. I just let it coast back down.

Overall speed kills gas miliage and that is because the drag force a function of the velocity squared. So you double your speed your drag increase by a factor of 4X. When you are pushing something shaped like a brick it adds up fast.

We gave tips; Don't unnecessarily use the gas and use your cruise control There is no silver bullet.

I added a 5-star tuner and Y-pipe conversion from 5-star 2 months ago and really saw no mileage gain whatsoever (hand calc) from stock, even with the "economy" tune.

It sounds a little better and I see a bit more power right off idle, similiar to back in the '90's when we'd advance the timing on our 5.0 mustangs.

I think the biggest factor in gas mileage with these things is to learn to use momentum and moderate your speed. The truck weighs 3.5 tons, getting it started or back up to speed uses a LOT of gas. But, it'll coast forever. Look farther ahead since you're up high; if you see a red light coast well in advance and you might not have to come to a stop at the light, use less gas to get back up to speed.

Use your cruise control!!

As others have mentioned, this thing does use a lot of gas at idle as well.

You got that right... I get 13 on the highway at 70mph with the cruise on. I have new plugs, K+N air filter, tires aired up to almost max.... no way to get decent mileage out of a V-10 unless you turn the truck off and coast down hill
