Summer is here and we should all be out enjoying it. Which is why beginning June 25th I'll be hosting a meet and greet//bull **** secession. I'll have a grill here but it's BYOF (BRING YOUR OWN FOOD), anyone is welcome to cook and make yourself at home.
Come down for a good time. Shoot the poo, talk some diesel smack, and enjoy yourself with fellow diesel fanatics. But come prepared, and wear your boots ... the **** gets deep T.U.F.F.
**ATTENTION!! BURNOUT PAD OPEN TO THOSE WHO TAKE ADVANTAGE
PS. Also trying to put together an expected guest list. If you are intrested in joining the event please inform me via form/pm/email

I believe you are referring to Chet's second location. He used to be up the street closer to Norwich just past Joe Casey ans Son's on the right on the bend in the road (small building).

Oh, you are the doubters. That's the building. I can remember looking in the first overhead garage door. That is the one the overnight delivery guys had a key to, for deliveries off hours and there was 55 gal drums of race gas in there. Chet's Speed Shop goes back to the early 70s and was originally in the building down route 2 towards Norwich just past Joe Casey and Sons on the right on the curve in the road. It's a small building that might be a Beauty Salon now. After many years there, Chet moved to the building you are in and he was there for 2 or 3 years then closed for good. Other than Chet, there has never really been a speed shop in the Norwich/Preston area. I grew up in Algen Heights in Ledyard so this area I am very familiar with, but that was back in the 70s.

mox-ct, when I lived there the building you referred to as Chet's first place had a muffler shop.
I put headers on my Ford Ranger and a Mustang muffler & tailpipe and then the shop made the pipe to connect the muffler to the headers.

I believe you are right. After Chet's Speed, I think it was a Muffler shop, then Beauty Salon, then.... not so sure. But Chet did move to the building the Diesel Shop is in presently for a couple of years, then he folded completely. I think mainly he folded because interest in speed parts dropped off after the Connecticut Dragway closed (Colchester Drags). And also partly because of the disposable aluminum 4 bangers dominating the highways. Of course, there might be other reasons too.
