Goose Neck to 5th Wheel Converter?

There was a goose neck hitch in the bed of my truck when I bought it, which i believe is a B&W hitch. Anyways, I'm looking for an easy way to convert this to a 5th Wheel hitch. I ran across and adapter made by Curt and it looks like it will work. Here is the link to the hitch: Custom Trailer Hitch Products, Custom Receiver Hitch, Heavy Duty Towing, Curt Manufacturing Has anyone else used this converter? If so, how did it do? Anything I need to watch out for?

Thanks in advance!

Go to B&Ws website and order their own adapter. I was in the same boat (truck?) with their under bed hitch installed in the vehicle I purchased. The gooseneck option is nice but I needed fifth wheel like you so I went to my local truck store and ordered B&Ws adapter. Works great but be prepared to shell out in the neighborhood of $800 +/-. You might find something on ebay or craigs if you have time to wait. I didn't.

Not sure if you were referring to me or BigPipes but my goose neck hitch was already installed when I bought the truck. I can buy the Curt adapter for around $325 and a buddy is loaning me his 5th wheel hitch.

I've done some research on this as I'm wanting to get the gooseneck hitch. Depending where you are, $600 is probably high but in the ballpark. You can find it cheaper but you might have to drive a little ways. Cheapest place local wanted $575 but 20miles away they'll install one for $490. Guess where I'm going. Don't quote me on this, but I remember reading somewhere that a couple years ago B&W changed their sales strategy and set the street price for just the hitch at $400, if a dealer is caught selling at less than that they can pull their products. I was looking at installing it myself and even online I could never find it cheaper than $400 so I think that's true. For $175 I was thinking hard about trying to install it myself (there's writeups on here) but for $90 I'll let someone else mess w/ it. Every place I talked to said it takes about 2hrs to install, so they're still making $45/hr. Seems like a fair price to me for paying for their knowledge and expertise. At $100/hr I think I'd walk.

I see you're in Kansas - PM me and I'll share the dealers w/ the best prices I found (in the Central & Western part of the state). My quotes were all for a 2005, but I seriously doubt there's much difference between the two. Can't help you on the companion hitch, but they don't really have to do any work w/ that, so the prices should be pretty similar.

Thanks again for all the feedback folks. I ordered the B&W 5th Wheel Companion Hitch last week for $725 including shipping and tax. It should be here Wednesday (06/29). Looking forward to getting it and seeing how it works. Will post an update once it arrives and I get to test it out!

Wow!! Great deal. Where did you find it at that price. You will love it. Hook up is a breeze. I bought a telescoping ball from harbor freight that is magnetized, put it on the center of hitch and king pin just pushes it right off.

Ever think about going the other way? I also bought a truck that had a B&W goose neck ball same as you. I went the other direction and put a gooseneck adapter that fits over the king pin on the trailer and pulls up tight on the plate. It costs $400 and I love it. The one I got has a cushion so it rides better than my 5th wheel. Also I love having a clear bed when not towing.

I would be very careful with using an adapter on a 5th wheel to gooseneck. The pin box may not be strong enough.
