6-speed in a stock model A
Recently I was at a car big car show, and A man had a model A Stock with 4 cylinder. He said the only change was to a 6 speed T-56 transmission to keep the rpm down on the road. That was cool I thought.Speedway carrys the bellhousing adapter. But later that night.I thought his car and my truck have a enclosed driveshaft. Now Im wondering what do you do about that. He said his rear is stock not changed to a later model. I wanta keep my flathead V8 but would love to install a overdrive trans. I have shorten regular driveshafts . But never an enclosed one. Is it much work,Can a regular driveshaft company shorten it ? He also had AC on the little 4 cylinder how cool.
If it ran on the 4 cylinder,my v8 should have no problem. Just need to find compressor brackets or make some.

If you have a pickup, your best and easiest overdrive is a new Mitchell unit. They can be purchased from various places including Mitchell. Here is one add: Mitchell Overdrive Kit - MAC's Antique Auto Parts I should also mention that to install a larger transmission, including a T-5 or T-56 you must cut your cross member.
