290k+ NO PLAY, BUT EDGEGES ARE ROUGH

Pulled the intake and air filter off of my '96 7.3. there is no play in the turbo at all. BUT, i am concermed because the leading edges are worn. It has the recalled airbox still on it. i am replacing it with the 6637. should i be concerned?

If its not chipped and just evenly worn around, it's not as big of a deal. If its chipped, it will be out of balance and you will have more problems. I wouldn't be too worried if its just worn, but you can get a new wheel down the road sometime for about a hundred bucks.

Its just the leading edges. I just got the truck and realized the original owner never did the recall on the airbox. I'm guessing it sfrom excessive sand getting by it. Is it possible to upgrade the wheel on that side to create more boost? like a hybrid?

Welcome to FTE!!!!!

The D66 that beans sells is just that... An upgraded compressor wheel and machined housing to fit it.

There is no upgraded wheel for our turbo unless you change turbos like Travis said.
