I recommend motorcraft filters. They are the best, for the $$$.

I would stay away from Fram in my opinion. Especially on a 300-6.

Do not know anything about Hastings.

What makes a fram worse than a Motorcraft? I don't know my stuff on filters really...what makes any brand better than the other?

Well, with Fram it's how the check valves are designed. They tend to fail on these Brand Filters and alow oil to drain out of the filter. This is alright if the filter is installed vertically. On the 300-6 the filter is installed horizontally, and with a Fram filter it can drain the oil back out of the filter, and out of the top of the engine causing dry starts.

The Motorcraft filter is better designed, and the check valve does not fail like on the Fram filters. Thus keeping the oil in the filter, and keeping it from all draining back into the pan, so oil will reach the top of the engine quicker.

Motorcraft Filters are made or were made by Purolator. The Motorcraft filter is also easily attainable, either at Ford, Kragen, or even wal-mart.
