fuel pump ?

Ok i been workin on this truck for the last 3days finally checked the fuel bowl an it was no fuel in there, so guess the fuel pump is bad. i took the old pump out but when researching found out the new pump has a little pace on the end. The old 1 didnt just want to know if something broke off the old pump?

Thanks

That little peace most likely droped in the eng. when you pulled the pump out. spin the eng. a few times by hand to make sure it's not hung up in something and that the eng. spins free

Nah, You shouldn't have to pull the motor. That little piece is called the tappet. It is a rod that it operated off its own little lobe on the camshaft. The best thing to do is to take the bolts out of the pump and then turn the engine over by hand until the pump lifts up off the block. That way you know the lobe is up and the tappet cannot fall into the block. But hind sight is 20/20 and you should be alright as long as the engine spins by hand and doesn't bind on anything. The tappet is most likely in the oil pan now where it will stay until someone removes the oil pan for some reason. And for that you DO need to pull the engine or cut out the cross member, but I wouldn't worry too much about it at this point.
