Trade my E40D for your complete 5 speed

I have a 96 F250 7.3l. The tranny was rebuilt by ford under 20k ago. I do alot of towing and really want a manual. I will pay for the shipping. Love autos but, with what I am planning to use my truck for, I don't trust them. This is my first auto ever and I want it gone.

Get a bts or racer x trans. A lot of high horsepower trucks with them. A well built auto will hold lots of power with proper tuning.

F250 or F350? Reg cab or other?

A properly well built auto will hold LOTS more power than any ZF5 spd.
If you just want the option of manual shift then there's nothign wrong with what you want to do.
But a good trans from those mentioned above combined with good shift tunes should make the truck tow effortlessly.

And after paying shipping fees on everything you'll need if you don't find it close, rebuilds, clutch, bearings, cylinders, driveshaft modding, etc you could probably have an unstoppable auto with a lifetime warranty. And all that encompasses is dropping your auto after recieving the new one and sending it back for a core. But I can fully respect the affection for a manual...

The 97 is the one in my sig, its a 4x4, supercab, F-250 i would be willing to let everything go except for the clutch and flywheel, i was thinking about kepping the hydro's, and ecm, for spares, but for the right price or trade you never know

Where ya located? And how many miles on the trans? I may be interested in the ZF if the OP doesn't want it.
