Need some info....351w swap...

Ok fellars....needin some last minute info, before I start buyin parts....

I have a carbed 351w...Complete Duraspark II ignition....And radiator...

It needs a rebuild....I know that....And was gonna dress the heads up for the time being....

Now...I now I will need the following for the swap-

-Engine mounts for the 351....Outta curiousity, will the ones in the crown vic work?

-Fuel pressure regulator to turn the FLP down to 4-6psi...

-164 Tooth, 28ox externally balance Flywheel....

-Truck oil pan...Will the pickup tube work? OR do I need the truck style?

-11" Clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing....

Now, will my factory 10" clutch, pressure plate, etc fit? And use the 351w flywheel?

Better yet, is there a difference in the thickness/travel of the clutches, etc?

Just tryin to get this all done as cheaply as possible...

Thanks all...

You need the V8 engine towers too and the I6 versions have to be removed from the frame, and these parts are riveted on. You need truck mounts and towers as well. You need a truck oilpan, pickup, and dipstick, but your existing clutch will work with the correct flywheel, I believe some of the earlier tranys used a 157 tooth flywheel.

Thanks Paul.....It's already gonna cost enough to rebuild it, bore it .030" over, and get the pieces to do the swap....

I really wanna get this done, and in for summer...

You should be able to get it done rather quickly. I placed a 302 carbed into a 1987 f150 with a 4.9 EFI. The motor blew and the computer was fried, so I just put in what I had laying around.

You will also need a throttle cable for a carbed motor, and the brackets for the power steering pump, AC, & alternator, this is different from the v8 and I6. Ones off of a 302 or 351 will work, also ones off of a efi v8 will work too, that's what I did so I would have the serpentine belt.

You will need everything from or for a truck, cars are different. Including the motor mounts.

Good luck!

You'll also need to budget for a visit to the Dentist to get your teeth cleaned.....

'cause switching from the 4.9 I6 to a 351, the first time you mash the gas pedal, you'll have a permanent smile on your face! I would also consider a 4V intake and carb if your 351 is a 2V.

Mine is a 2bbl....With a 500cfm Holley Performer carb.....Don't need a 4bbl....I'll be slamming the pedal on the floor board to hear the secondaries open up....

Why will I need to swap anything out, pulley/pump wise? Everything is alrady mated up....

You have failed me.....

Your gonna hate yourself for swapping that efi 300/6 for a carbed 351.

Been there, done that.

But hey, different strokes for different folks
