I'd like to change transmission oil but have no info on how much oil do i need and what kind is preferable.
Could you please help me? '82 F150 Manual transmission.
May be someone can share good technique to do that?
Thank you!
Should have two bolts with square heads on the side of your trans. Take out the lower one and let it drain into a pan, pop open the top one once it drains a bit to help with airflow. Then once it stops draining put the lower bolt/plug back in. Then squirt/pour your gear oil into the top hole just until it spills out a bit or is level with the hole. I believe it took like 7.0 pints of 80w90 gear oil, which equates to 4 or 4.5 quarts. Too lazy to do the conversion in my head.
Look on the tag on your driver side door jamb, right near the striker bolt. Look for "Trans" near the bottom of the tag. What letter is listed under "Trans"?
The letter is a code that will tell us what transmission you have.
Yes, I have Clark. I ordered the official letter from Ford and it shows 4-speed manual transmission overdrive (clark).
So, I need 5 q. of 15w40? full synthetic or?
