Mason is starting kindergarten in a few weeks, pretty nervous since he seems pretty "innocent" right now and thinks everybody else is awesome, nice, and wants to play with him. Unfortunately I know that he'll find that there are quite a few "mean" kids in this world (which you can't blame some of them with the environment their raised in) and I really hope they don't break his spirit. We will find out.....
On a side note, he LOVES Minecraft and it seems that every kid that he speaks to (even ones several years older) can hold a conversation about it for apparently hours. Now to just get him on automotive conversation, then he'll be in with an awesome crowd

We quasi inherited a car for Maddie from a co-worker, that doesn't run. I know its got several issues, but overall its in pretty good shape. I am not saying I refuse to turn a wrench on it, but I have explained to Maddie that she is the one that is going to be working on it, and I will be there with her to tell her what steps to do. She is really excited about that. Once she gets it running, she is going to swap on a spare tire, then swap it back as a lesson.

That should be a great experience for her, teaches her how complicated and complex a motor vehicle is and how much work it takes to maintain one. Mason helped with his first oil change on the TJ, hoping to do spark plugs with him when the weather cools down a bit. Ultimately I'm hoping to find a late 60's Mustang or 70s Chevy pickup to restore with the boys in 5 years when they get a little older and the basement is finished and frees up funds.
My neighbor's son is starting his senior year of high school and his parents asked me advice on buying a used, starter car (they've never bought something like that before) so I found a 2000 GMC 1500 pickup that seemed to fit the bill perfectly. They checked it out and like it so they bought it and drove it home, now it's leaking coolant due to a busted\leaky heater core inlet. Kid was really bummed but I explained to him how just about every vehicle I've bought has came with similar issues and after you fix you'll feel good about the purchase again.

There are YouTube videos galore on fixing just those exact kinds of issues. Mom and Dad's 82 6.2 L diesel pickup always leaked at the heater core, even after it was replaced. I wasn't allowed to pull it apart and find out why, so it just typically smelled like antifreeze in the cab, but otherwise it was just dandy!!
