Fixing shock mounts and frame-side cab mounts

So I needed to fix my shock mounts on the 9", and I've been putting it off for some time. I've also needed to fix the cab mounts (frame-side), and have been avoiding that. (Just why I've put it off, I don't know. Until this week, my job was welding. Guess it just reminds me of work, haha.)

Anyway - I got around to fixing both of them tonight and I figured I'd share pictures of what I did to make them "like new" again. First the shock mounts on the rear end.

This first picture shows a horrible patch job that the PO did. Not only did the shock have to be beaten out of there...it just looked horrible. (You can see the line drawn where it's to be cut.)

The other side was mangled, but no repair had been done. (A line can also be seen here where I was going to cut it.)

I had another 9" from a parts truck outside that was removed from said truck. I marked and cut them off.

With both sides cut off, this is what I had to work with.

I then cut the mounts off my rear end, careful to be sure they were cut in the same place I had cut from the parts trucks rear end.

I then clamped them on so they sat straight and flush, tacked them on, then finished the weld. They came out looking like this.

I then moved on to the frame-side cab mounts. These were rotted out pretty bad, and I had painted over them without fixing them. (Told you I put it off for quite some time, haha.) I clamped the "frame saver" I had made on the lathe at my previous job (seen here on the floor to the right) and scribed around it.

I then took a large round stone in the die grinder and rounded out the hole.

On to test fitting the pieces to be welded in.

Clamped, tacked, welded and smoothed. Looks like brand new!
