I have just recently replaced my transmission and now when I drive it.....there is a pretty distinct buzzing noise that seems to fluctuate with the rpms. It doesn't do it at idle so I was just wondering what it might be... I think I can still hear the turbo whistle to spool so i wouldn't think that was it. I have heard of down pipes making weird noises when removed and I had to do that for the tranny swap....so if anyone has an idea that would be nice.
Do you have an after-market DP? If you didn't bend/cut out the firewall enough for it to clear it may be rubbing. Mine sometimes does and creates a buzzing noise.
It is a banks exhaust system but I checked the clearance and there is definitely plenty. Do you think my turbo could be going out. It just doesn't whistle like i think it should....i don't know.
Hmm... You might take your intake boot off and check the Shaft for play. Also look at the fins and see what shape they are in, if they look pitted or chipped somethings got into it and eat them, dust, grit, etc. May not be the situation but never hurts to check.
it is an automatic.....e40d......buzzes without the cover on also......going to pull the intake boot and check shaft play.....maybe fins rubbing? running out of ideas. the sound definitely sound like it is coming from the turbo area inside the cab when driving.
pulled intake boot......fins are clean and I ran some turbo cleaner through it and I can definitely hear it spool now. It does not make the noise in park with throttle. It makes it sometimes in drive but not that loud. but if I put it in first and stand on the brake with some throttle it really buzzes. Same thing in second
sounds like your downpipe is hitting. you also may want to look at the motor mounts to see how much eng movement you have. I'm thinking when you load the eng. and the torque move the eng. is when you downpipe is hitting
well I'll check. It seems like there is enough room but never hurts to check again.....I definitely have seen a lot of engine movement in some vehicles before.
