Yep I was gonna say the tonneau cover but forgot to lol. I thought I read somewhere that removing the tailgate doesn't really help, it only gains maybe 1 or 2 more mpgs if that. I guess that's 1 or more than what you had.

Maybe replacing the rear bumper with a roll pan could help slightly. I don't know. Maybe?

Replacing my rear bumper with a rocker pan, would net me about 4 MPG that freakin bumper is huge! The PO built a 22 inch patio on to the back of the truck for his camper. it is coming off soon, with a new rocker pan, and shaving the rear tailgate also... it will be a nice weight savings indeed! The old Bumper is really nice looking, and very well made. Last year, I media blasted it and repainted it satin black.. everyone loves it except for me. It is nice to have a bench seat when I tailgate party at Angel games... When I removed it for to refinish it, it weighed 145 lbs. YIKES!

Paul, if you took that bumper off of your truck you'd get a hernia and your truck would float away

Marc , my son wants me to take it off before I put my new tires and rims on, so he can use the truck for drifting! Err uhh yeah.... NOT! I had to use a trans jack to remove it last time. It will be listed on Craig's list in a few months... some one can use it as a nice veranda for their beach home!

I'm pretty sure mythbusters proved that the tailgate UP helps because a "pillow" of air forms in the bed simulating having a topper on the truck. If the tailgate was down the "pillow" won't form

If you look on the cover of the Dennis Carpenter Catalog for our trucks, you will see a front lower spoiler. It is hard to see, but I think it looks pretty cool. Not my cup of tea, but still pretty cool. I just noticed it last night. It is the 2009 catalog by the way.

Ok ... I did not want to start a big argument.

May goal was to find some ideas of small stuff I can do (once I get her back together) to help with hidden or non obvious way to streamline these trucks. I have all ready done the Elec. Fan and 3g conversion (thanks to this forum)

The Ideas that I have had where Body pan, Tonneau cover, Smoothing out the rear bumper, May be some type of hood scoop to help with the transition between the hood and windshield. Getting rid of the west cost mirrors. (but I like them. You can see when you are backing up)

One of the reasons that I am redoing my truck is I like to tinker and it keeps me out of the Bar at night. ( I live alone so most nights before I got a house with a garage I went to the bar because I had nothing else better to do)
