The relay does click when I ground the self-test plug.

Sorry for being a lamen, but can you elaborate on the location of the fuel shut-off switch?

If it turns out the switch is open, is it as simple as closing the circuit or will I need to replace it?

I can't thank you enough for your help. This truck is currently my primary vehicle and this is very inconvenient for me.

You should be able to push the red button down on top of the fuel shut-off switch and reset it.

The fuel shut-off switch is also called the Inertia switch.
It is located in the passenger kick panel.

Ok- One more question - None of my fuses/relays under the hood are labeled. Can you tell me what's what?

Well, I'm not exactly sure. I checked the shut-off behind the kick panel- the button seems to be permanently depressed. I popped it up, then pushed it back down with a screwdriver, but that did nothing. Checked for power there afterwards, and had power on both wires via self-test jump/ground procedure. Checked the fuse- it's good. Switched the relays around (horn to fuel pump, as described), and the truck came to life.

For good measure, went to the parts store and bought all new relays and replaced. Seems I'm not out of the woods yet...

The truck will run when switched to the forward tank, which is great. Drive for awhile, shut it off, go out to start it again and it acts like it's not getting fuel again. Before I cracked the windshield with my fist, I tried flipping the selector switch to rear, then back to front and the truck runs strong. Seems I have to do that every time now.

Its as if multiple scenarios you described happened to my truck all at once

So, obvious question, where do I get a replacement selector switch??

I think you can still get them from Ford and of course the salvage yards.
Some have gotten them from auto part stores but it seems like they had to rewire them.

Thanks...
So, I've been flipping the switch back and forth everytime before I start the truck, and that's been working... until today. Was on the way to work, and the truck shut off on the side of the interstate. Police gave me a ride to work today
Question: Since I'm not using my rear tank, is it possible to bypass the selector switch? Can I jump it to the front tank only? I'd like to get the truck off the side of the road under its own power.

Sure, just unplug it and jump (short) the Red wire with a yellow stripe to the Red wire.
This will select the front pump.
Note that the fuel gauge will not work unless you also jump the Yellow wire with a white stripe to the Dark Blue wire with a yellow stripe.

Thanks SubFord

Went back out to the truck to check on it during my break, and figured I'd fool with it again to see if I could get it running. Jumped the self-test plug (you taught me that), and when switched to the rear tank, I can hear the pump running. As mentioned, the rear tank has never worked. Switch back to the front tank - nothing.

I tried kicking the front tank and this worked..??? Pump came on, and the Truck started right up. Seems as though there may be a bad connection somewhere.

Any ideas?

A new pump would be the 4th pump in this truck since I"ve owned it, and I've had it almost 2 years now. Seems like something is frying them. I'm really not looking forward to replacing it again.

I see a For Sale sign in this truck's future.

Thanks for your help.
