OEM Rear Sway Bar

What years OEM sway bar from F250 will work for my Excursion?

If anyone has one from F250 or Excursion they've swapped for aftermarket I'd gladly free up some garage space for you. Only hit I got in the WTB marketplace was $328 for F350. I could go Hellwig if I wanted to pay that much. Not having any luck in the local salvage yards either.

I paid $185 or so for mine from 4 Wheel Parts. They had to match an online price.

I would suggest hellwig in the first place....
there's a reason people upgrade

online price matching evens the playing field !
and it is an upgrade !

While that may be true I've also read here where the upgrade was minimal. If I were doing heavy towing on a regular basis there'd be no question as to what I'd get. This is mainly a family hauler. I could go with an f350 which is beefier than what I've found for the F250. F350 was 30mm & F250 18.5mm. That's what I've found thus far.

I paid about $99 for my OEM Ford F350 sway bar. It is 30mm and comes with the bushings so you don't need to order those. I don't have the part number in front of me, but if the parts guys looks up the sway bar off a 2004 F350 SRW they will find the 30mm one.

I installed mine yesterday thinking it wouldn't be much of a difference over the stock bar, I was wrong. It made a very noticable difference and I am glad I did it. Stock is about 26mm if I remember right.

I'm sure the Hellwig would be great too, but this was cheaper for me. The Hellwig is a 31-32mm bar and I have no idea how it compares to the 30mm OEM. If it uses the same mounting points and is the same type of steel as OEM it will be slightly stiffer.

Which end links did you use F350 or Excursion?

Would you happen to have a picture of how your sway bar mounts? Did you have brackets attached to the pumpkin or did it mount to the shock/axle brackets?

I don't have pictures right now. But it is OEM so it mounts to the axle brackets for the stock swaybar. If your Ex didn't come with a sway bar you'd have to check and see if you have the mounts. Otherwise you'd need to order them.

You'd need #7 in the picture if you don't have a stock bar.

Do all the axles come with the mount for that bracket?

No they don't but what I've seen on the F350 they mount to the shock mount brackest with the sway bar going behind the differential as opposed to over the front of the differential. Appears to mount like the Hellwig with those same type brackets. I'll post a link to what I'm talking abt.

This is what I'm talking about. His truck is 2011 SD but I'm more interested in how the bar mounts. Of course my shock axle mounts are different but seems it would work with the F350 bar & mounting brackets.

You know, I think that might be where they mount to. It was probably the front axle that had actual brackets. I'll look when I get home.

There are brackets on there for the swaybar and they are not the same as the shock mounts. Here is a pic:

I've got a Hellwig bar and end links (minus bushings, nuts and bushing collars for the shock mounts) for sale. Im in suburban Chicago if you're interested.
