I posted this in the 48 - 60 forum and got some feedback that it's probably an Econoline tailgate. It's not mine, a friend out in Kentucky found it under his rental house and asked me to help him ID it and establish a value. Measurement I was given is 50-3/4" by 24-3/4"
Any Econline experts disagree with 52Merc and NumberDummy that this is a 61/67 Econoline 'gate?
And, for bonus points, anybody want to make him an offer on it? PM me and I'll facilitate the connection.

See those squarish metal plates on the tailgate used for the latching mechanism? What other Ford pickup uses this setup? N-O-N-E = NONE.
It's an Econoline tailgate, but there are two different types, high and low.
High: 50 3/4" X 23 1/2" / Low: 50 3/4" x 19 1/2"
An Econoline tailgate will bring big bucks on ebay, cuz it's harder to find than Jimmy Hoffa!
No doubt you know more about this stuff than I do, Bill. However, having said that, I'm a big fan of our Cold War 'Trust but verify' doctrine. And, if someone here can use it, that saves my friend from having to deal with a fleabay sale.....

You can give it away if you want, but the last one that I had (3 years ago) went for $300 on ebay.
No danger he's going to give it away but it would be far simpler if someone here just made him a reasonable offer rather than having to deal with an auction or craigslist sale; if no one does then I'm sure he'll put it up on eBay in the next couple of weeks.

It is definitely a Econoline truck endgate.
They are hard to find like Hens teeth. There are laways guys looking for them. I have two. But that one is in better shape than mine.
I live in Canada. and shipping it here would cost about $300 also. Bit much for me now to get one that is better shape.
Too bad he does not want to deal on ebay and get top dollar for it.
Jeff, I live in Kentucky(land of rusty tailgates) and Im interested. Can you put me in touch with him? My email is EconoUSAparts@fuse.net or he can call my cell at 859-512-0105. I didnt see the PM button anywhere so I posted here instead.

You got a good price for it. It is so hard to find any endgate for these trucks. A guy up here had one that he said was too badly rusted. I never saw it. As much as I tried to talk him to sell the endgate with the truck he ended up taking it to a scrapyard. I explained to him via emails that guys will take any of these endgates and rebuild them due to the fact we cannot find them.
I'm fortunate to have 2 that I will need for my trucks. They need work, but enough there to rebuild.
