need some suggestions with trans install

I fought my transmission yesterday for like 3 hours. So though i'd ask the question to all of you? Im having trouble getting the transmission to snug up to the clutch housing. It seem i can get the top close enough to get bolts in but only one side at a time. almost like the shaft wont seat in the pilot bearing. Anyway, though id see if there are any trick to the trade i know there a lot of experience in this forum.

Did you use an alignment tool to line the clutch disc up to the pilot bearing? Is the pilot bearing new? and does it fit the shaft?
If you are getting far enough to start the bolts, you are into the splines, but the pilot has to be out of alignment.

Yah its a new pilot bearing. Maybe its wrong size? The alignment tool fit snug in it.
