Bought my first Ford!
Well guys I have to admit I was not always much of a Ford guy and have never owned one up until now. I was in the market for an older 3/4 ton truck and came across a 1979 f250 supercab longbox 4x4 and fell head over heels for it! I mean I real dig the body style of these older ford trucks. The body is a little rough in spots but is very fixable. It has a 460 big block thats been bored .030 over with a few add on's and runs on propane. I was a little leary about buying it because it runs on propane but after talking to a mechanic friend of mine he said it was not a big deal. Having said that I have never owned something that runs on propane is there anything I should watch out for or extra maintenance I need to do to it to keep it running good? (and boy does it ever run good!). I'm actually exited to have a propane truck since propane is almost half the price of gas!
I will try and post up some pictures in the next couple of days.
Thanks guys

make sure the block heater works good before it gets cold. the evaporator/regulator needs warm coolant to evaporate the liquid propane.
a cheater hose would be a good idea. you will likely not be able to buy one assembled as (at least in canada) they are illegal. so get a hose designed to go from the tank to the regulator for a gas barbecue, and a fitting to go on your tank filler, then assemble. you can now use a barbecue tank to fill your truck of you run out of gas.

Thats a great idea! I'll definitely have to do that. So if I understand you right I can leave the main tank in the truck as is and make a "cheater" hose that I can attach to the main tank and then to a BBQ tank? If I'm getting this right will I be able to put the propane from the BBQ tank into the main tank and then remove the BBQ tank or would I just leave the BBQ tank attached until I find a place to fill up the main tank?

yes. attatch the hose to the bbq tank, attach the hose to the fill port of the truck tank. open the bbq tank valve, open the vent valve (beside the fill port usually) and turn the tank upside down (you are pouring the liquid into your truck) when finished, close everything and disconnect the hose.
