automatic lock problem

I have a 2002 Escape XLS with automatic locks. When using that auto-unlock, someone tried to open a door. Now that door's lock won't lock or unlock.

Has anyone seen a problem like this? What can I do to fix it?

If you bought it new, it should still be under warranty unless you went over your mileage or something.

I'd take it in to a dealership to have them look at it.
