I was just setting around wondering since the big 3 motor companies are coming out with new versions of old muscle cars if there was any word if Ford would be bringing back the full size bronco.
Alan is not into building niche vehicles, high volume only, so no, there wont be a new Bronco. Fiat will continue to have a lock on the serious off-road market with the Jeep brand for the foreseeable future.

I will agree that Ford isn't too privy about a one off platform and rightfully so. But, there are some low volume F-150 adaptations such as the Raptor, Harley and in the past, the Lightning.
A Bronco wouldn't be too far fetched for Ford to build and market without taking a beating. We simply have nothing that competes squarely against the Jeep and the Wrangler is selling it's butt off right now.

Ford currently has no North American truck platform that is Wrangler-sized. The late Bronco that was a shortened F-150 is not what we are talking about, but a lighter, narrower off-road capable machine. Its a tough market. Toyota's FJ was never the sales success hoped, and its retro heritage is very similar to the original Bronco. Jeep is a dedicated brand that actually failed as a full-line truck maker. There is a good reason that Fiatsler has kept Jeep separate, not ruin it. What the Big-3 do best is high volume truck production, not specialty vehicles.
I think what would look good would be a Bronco body on a raptor platform.
The Raptor is not a platform, but an F-150 model. Today's F-150 is bigger and most importantly, porkier, than the 1980's F-150 that the OJ-style Bronco used as its base.
