So the story goes like this.
I'm up at my little rancho in Norcal this past week and my brother comes over and says, "Hey, you think if we go pester Mr. Foley again that he'll sell you that F-100".
I replied, "let's go see".
So we loaded up the girls and drove up the canyon.
My brother found the truck on a day trip and made the initial contact with the owner Mr. Foley.
Now, Mr. Foley is a wonderful little man that owns a little auto repair garage in the town of Quincy. He's a former marine and the kind of guy you could talk to all day long.
He has a little '74 F-100 4x4 that is exactly like the one I had as a young buck.
It was the one I never should have sold. I used to have a blast in that truck.
Used to fly it off the dunes at Pismo and then go climb it to Monache Meadows and get stuck in the snow, good stuff.
Upon arriving in Quincy we went to the garage and there it was, a beautiful little truck with a snow plow. It has seen some use in its life in the mountains. Lots of wood haulin and plowing the white stuff.
Mrs. Foley was sweeping the drive and greeted us quizzically as it was a holiday and they were not open for business. I asked for her husband and she vanished to fetch him. Mr. Foley appeared with a smile and a handshake and we began talkin and hagglin.
We were a bit apart at first as he knew how rare they are, and the fact that I've been after it for a while. But we eventually came to a number that satisfied us both.
A handshake and the deal was done.
She's a beauty. A 360, four speed job.
Needs a little TLC, but she'll get it.
If you all are ever up in Northern Ca. on highway 70 you will be in for a wonderful drive. It is a hidden canyon that most people don't know about.
Great fishing and waterfalls all over the place.
Portola is at the east end and Lake Oroville is at the west end.
My place is in a little area called Yankee Hill above the lake.

Nice truck, and it is a nice area up there. I grew up camping at Lassen every year and my uncle lives up in crescent mills, works at the mill in Chester.

Street worthyness first.
I have a place in Norcal that has excellent four wheelin around it so it will get a new bottom end.
I'm still trying to figure out how far to go with it.
I love the short wheel base for 4wheelin.
I have a late nineties roller cam 5.0 sittin around also.
Love FEs but they do suck the fuel. So I'm thinking about that.
The possibilities are endless.
I might just clean up the paint a bit. I don't need to worry about scratches.
Also realize that there are not to many left.
I'll probably end up doing it like my mustang. New underneath but stock looking outside.

 

story! I am glad it finally worked out for you.

I too, have some pickups that I have inquired about, but the owners are still holding strong, letting them just sit in their garage. Im just waiting them out. I enquire back every 6 months or so .

Are you talking about the Feather River Canyon? I know some rail fans that like to venture up to that area and I have been up there too for work and play. Nice area.

I love your story and your tuck is defiantly a diamond in the rough. Looks like a fun project.

It's a fantastic area.
If you go, take a four wheeler so you can explore all the back roads and old clubs and speak easys from the prohibition era.
