Sharp eyes.
Nope your not seeing things.
Now that I've had the truck down this far I've learned that the cab will need to come off in the future.
There is some rust in the cowl area. And one of the mounts has stress cracks (same side). Not only this one but in the cab also. They're not a problem right now but will be addressed later.
I had planned to pull the bed at least but now it looks like I'll do the whole deal.
But for now, I'm running' it.
Edit
Went out and took a wire brush to it cause it was buggin' me.
Surface rust crack.
Here's the crack in the mount. No problem it's in the out shell. Inner is fine.
Runnin' it.

Alrighty, we are officially wired.
Lights work with their new harness and nothin' burnt down.
Won't be long now.
Just have to finish the steering, mount a carb and fire this bad piece up
I've run out of harness covering so cleanup has to wait. I have two different kinds and just because I'm using what I have, it's been woven for the big stuff and ribbed for the smaller stuff. It actually doesn't look to bad.
Mounted the vacuum canister. It's a Comp cams piece from Summit. Nice. Took the sticker off.
Gonna mount the passenger side fender and button that side up for the last time.

How did you run the wire from the 6AL box to the MSD distributor? Did you run across manifold to firewall? Pics? Thanks.

It's roughed in now going to the firewall into the main loom and out the middle of the OE cable support then down to the manifold, forward to the dizzy.
In these pics you can pick it out going to the wall then in the next pic down out of the middle of the loom support.

Thanks for the pics. That's how I am going to run mine only I have the box on the passenger side. Didn't want to extend the power leads. Agree, love the look of new fasteners.

Yeah you're right were I am.
Engine room is looking good.
I must say I really like a silver based color on the inners.
I'm thinking your trigger wire length should work out pretty good from there.
I'll prolly have to double back a bit to take some length out.

I really like the hammertone on the inners. Thanks to Mike0o0o0o0 for that idea.

Yeah Mike is a fountain of ideas.
I'm really hoping he gets the time soon to get his truck done.
I swear I'd think hard about driving cross country to see that thing done.
It will be THE standard.

When I first started this project, his build thread really hit home with me. Was my inspiration to start mine. Since then I have discovered many fine builds along the way, yours included. It's a lot of fun to see what everybody is doing and getting idea's along the way.

Yeah, agreed. It's in a place I can get to any time.
Just trying not to get distracted.
Trying to stick to my plan of not getting bogged down with the old " you know, as long as I'm here I may as well do.........".
That is the road to ruin if you're trying to keep your truck in running condition.
It'll still be there in a couple months.
