Howdy South Dakota!

Finally coming up for air after arriving at work at 7:30 this morning. Had a great vacation...

Crazy times around here... my company is in full disaster planning mode. Spent some time this morning setting up temporary work areas in the building I work in. It was being used for record retention/storage, but they moved it all out over the weekend in case they need to evacuate our headquarters bldg which sits closer to the Missouri river than this building.

Have a lot of coworkers who had to move out of their homes last week. The water is rising higher every day. Fortunately, my house is still safe, and should remain so, but who knows... The Army Corp of Engineers and FEMA really can't say for sure how bad it will get because they've never had to release so much water from the resevoirs upstream.

I'll post some photo links from the local paper here later...

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Here are some flood pictures...

This one is from last week:

This one is from yesterday... water is still rising. Kind of amazing how they can create little islands by stacking sand bags around buildings...

don't people realize they need a wall completely around the house, not just on the river side?

That's what I would think Steve... Maybe the uncovered side is further up hill and they hope the water won't get that high?

You are right on that one Steve... My coworker that lives right on the river built a sandbag wall last week, but it started to collapse and wash away over the weekend. He had to move out... yesterday he went back to his house and took out the furnace and AC units...

Hey guys, just wanted to make a quick drop in. Work has been a nightmare here at the plant, with the flooding (and the fire we had today), but I'm off for a week in Cancun. Hopefully, I'll be able to get on at work when I get back. Have a good one, I'll talk to you next week!
