93 F250 Value?

I'm looking at a 93 F250, 7.3, extra cab, long bed, 4x4, a/c, 160k miles with a Banks Sidewinder turbo. Seller claims it adds 86+ hp, and 143+ lbs ft torque. I'm not familiar with the Banks turbo and don't know if it adds any more than the OEM turbo. Seller asking $4900.00. Truck is very clean. Any ideas on price?

Thanks

Sounds like a fair price. Might want to check in the 7.3 forum for things to check before ya buy. Can also look in the local wheeler dealer mags or nada/kelly blue book to compare prices. Mileage isn't too high for that engine if it's had decent maintainance.

If I was in your shoes, I would hold off and try to find a 95-up model. They came from the factory with a turbocharger and have a better tranny. (If you're going w/ Auto)

My 97 has over 300k on it. It's been awesome.

I would counter this with the fact that when ford when to the PSD design parts got a TON more expensive!!! Take a look at injectors for example. PSD injectors $242 each x8... 7.3IDI in the 1993 are like $40ea x8... I'd rather have a 7.3 with aftermarket turbo that makes the same HP and TQ as a PSD and have lower cost parts.

Not sure if the power numbers are correct but it sounds like a decent deal. F250's have a better ride due to the TTB front end instead of the solid front axle on the F350's. Of course the D60 solid axle in the F350s is better for wear and tear, jacking up and off roading... I'd ask how long the banks turbo has been on? If it's been rebuilt recently? IIRC... I read somewhere that the engine can have problems in the rear two cylinders if the turbo has the boost turned up to high. The IDI/PSD guys could give you all the info on that though... For $5K... Well I am the guy that dickers with the price... Find a few things you'd like to fix. Rust, tires, suspension bushings... and then offer $4500 and see if he takes it.

If he looked for newer 7.3psd that price would be alot more at least around here it would.

I think thats a very good price if the truck is clean..Especially with the turbo kit and lowish miles. I would look it over good, drive it paying attention to the tranny if it checks out offer the guy 4500...that would be a steal..

But it looks like you already own a 97 PSD is there a reason you need two? lol
