Mirror turn signal plastic? Can it be replaced?

Ok I caught a tree with my drivers side mirror. It cracked the plastic on the turn signal on the mirror. It's a 2006 F250 6.0

Just curious if the plastic can be replaced or does the whole mirror have to replaced?

FWIW, same thing with my 2004 SD. Needed to replace the complete front (part that bugs hit) housing. $140 to the door from Ed the parts guy.....
Mine is the tow package, turn, park etc.

good luck

If you just cracked the front outter shell that houses the turn signal lamp, that can be replaced without removing the mirror or replacing the whole thing. Got a pic of the damage?

Is that something you can only get at a dealer? Curious if anyone knows how much to replace and how hard is it to replace?

I was just worried the whole mirror had to be replaced.

You'll have to replace the whole mirror cover. The individual turn signals are not available.

If im seeing the pictures correctly its only the light that is broken? If thats the case theres no need to replace the entire mirror just buy new signals. You can get aftermarket turn signals from companies such as Recon, though recently Recon's customer service has been questionable. Anyway replacing the signals is a PITA. You must angle the mirror in order to get behind the mirror and locate three plastic tabs that hold the outer mirror shell to the complete assembly. These tabs are fragile and I broke a couple of them but just ended up plastic welding them back together. After you take the outer shell of its as simple as taking out the old light and putting it all back together. Definitely cheaper than buying a whole new mirror set just use more patience than I did

Yeah, you can replace the signals with RECON units, but if you want the OEM amber units, you have to buy the cover (not the whole mirror assembly). Ford doesn't sell the covers or signals individually. Atleast that's what my parts guy says. Maybe there are aftermarket OEM style replacements out there.

I suggest calling Ed and explaining what you need. In my case, the mirrors were part of the tow package. Very easy to replace once you see how it comes apart.

On my 2004, there are three tabs that have to be released. Tilt the mirror to different positions to access each. A flash light helps.. good luck..
