Exclamation Screwed up syncro/fuel timing, what to do?

1995 Ranger 3.0L OHV.....I had my cam syncro fail on me and I didn't read any of the forums till I already had a new assembly installed. It is now back firing out of the intake at higher RPM's. I've tried everything that I've found to reinstall this thing right but to no avail. List of things I have tried:
Put vane (half moon lookin thing) in the center of the opening and kept at the 75* angle.
Put vane oposite of above.
Put engine 5 teeth past TDC and tried both above (compression stroke on each TDC)
Put engine 5 teeh past TDC and used alignment tool
Put engine at TDC and used alignment tool
Put engine 1 tooth past TDC and used alignment tool
Put engine at TDC on exhaust stroke and use alignment tool
Put engine at TDC and put vane in the center of the opening

All of these fail and I can't figure out how to get the timing back on target. Does anyone on here have a suggestion? I need to work this out soon as it's currently my only car and I gotta go back to work on Tuesday. Thanks in advance.

Well I ordered a Motorcraft part after finding the POS Dorman was garbage and that fixed a lot of my issues but I'm still backfiring out of the intake at higher RPM's. I'm fairly certain that it's no longer the cam syncro and I have installed it per Ford's tech manual. I'm getting P0135 and P0155 codes. I was talking with a friend of mine and he said if the upstream O2's are bad that it will directly effect the fuel system like this. Do you guys think the O2's need replaced or is there something else that I'm missing? I was thinking vacuum related but I don't know these 3.0l's very well to determine what is the cause. I know the DOHC 4.6 like the back of my hand but these 3.0l's are screwy.

Well I did a vacuum check and it was bad due to the miss firing. Compression tested it and they ran 160 - 175 on the cylinders. After that I made sure once again I was on the compression stroke and this time placed it 10* BTDC and reinstalled the cam syncro and now everything runs great and vacuum test showed 16 at idle and did what it was supposed to do when I reved it and no more backfire out of the intake. So everything is good to go now, im still unsure why I had these issues because that is all I did and it fixed the issue.

Im still getting the codes though so im going to be replacing the O2's and will post up if that fixes it.

Yes, according to my crank pulley I placed it at the tooth that says 10 before the letters TDC with the number 0. Make sure youre lining the tooth up with the crank position sensor magnet.

Have you done any of the tests like I have above?
