96 F150 Y-Pipe w/cats

Does anybody know if the Y-pipe and cats are available in the aftermarket for the 5.8 engine? I'm told that it is available for the 95 F150 but not the 96. Will the 95 version work on the 96? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Eastern makes a OEM fit direct replacement for your 1996. It is not CARB compliant, 49 state only. Model number is 30276. No one else makes one like that for a '96 that I have found. You could use one designed for a 1995, but you will need to add the bungs for the oxygen sensors in the correct place, 3 total.

Checking around the web also shows mixed results for that y-pipe/converter. It may not have all the necessary oxygen sensor ports either.

Further investigation confirmed my suspicion. It has only one O2 port. Looks like most anything you get off the shelf will need to be modified.

Ford switched to OBD-II on the light trucks in 1996. This changed how the computer sensed and controlled the engine. Odd I can find y-pipe/converters for the 4.9 and 5.0L trucks but not the 5.8L 1996 trucks.

I thought that this was odd too. Ford dealers even discontinued this pipe. Welding the O2 ports in won't be a problem. Thanks for the quick replies and the part #. Greatly appreciated.

For a little more $$ you could use a Magnaflow 93312. A much nicer piece to start with.

Most shorty headers for these trucks have O2 bungs on each side and that would leave you with just the downstream sensor to deal with.. which could be eliminated if you're not in a test zone or you could have a bung added pretty cheaply.
