Do you need the diesel or are you only finding diesels in the configuration you're looking for?
Sounds to me like you'll be the one taking the financial hit on this as he'll get a good price on a used '11 and you're buying a new truck with the added price of the diesel option... I'm with super08 on this one, let him get the diesel if you're not wanting to get rid of your truck.
in-laws.... (and i know, my MIL lives with me, my wife, and our 4 kids)

The 2012's start to build in July. So whatever you find that is left in the 2011 inventory are probablt diesels. Like others have asked what you pulling? A diesel may be the best bang for your buck if thats all that is left at the dealer.
Most diesel crew cabs full size beds lariat package cost MSRP $54,000 plus.
If you can get them down into the low $40,000 range for a almost 1 year old 2011 pne jump at it. Don't let them fool you. They don't want to be left with 2011's on the lot when the 2012 arrive.
Stick by your guns and walk out if necessary.
At the moment $4,500 is standard off the MSRP but like I said I'd hold out for another $4,000 totalling $8,500 or moreoff MSRP.

forget the diesel to much maintance to deal with. now with the new additive for exhaust, oil changes, fuel filters, egr, bunch of radiator issues. I would pass. Unless your hauling a ton all the time the 6.2 is the way to go. Maybe im biased but the 6.4 left a very bad taste in my mouth.
