But, I would not go with any more than that -like I said, its a drive to the liquor store truck, not a work truck.
Basicly, I agree with what you say. Just don't tell the millions of satisfied F150 users who actually work their trucks that the F150 is not a real truck.

If just like to through this in the mix. My grandma bought an 02 explorer sport trac and she lets me and my brother drive it as a reliable vehicle. It has a GWVR of 6250lbs and according to the internet weighs 5840lbs. That leaves 410lbs of cargo which is pretty sad lol. I've had a fully dressed and full of fluids 91 12 valve cummins with a 727 tranny and 205 t-case and it held the weight fine and braked fine, but it probably weighed about 1200lba total I'm just guessing? If an explorer sport trac can handle being well over the gwvr then I don't see the problem with having an f150 well over the GVWR(within reason of course if equipped right). I wouldn't be afraid to hook up a trailer with my friends mud truck on it to my f150 or even the explorer if I had to.

If I was going to do what you are doing & I have and many do. Look at how many F150's were used in the 70's. It was very common to see a slide in camper pulling a boat. If you feel your front springs may be sagging and old replace them and upgrade with a heavier one. Go with a overload spring on the back, it goes on top of the stock springs and needs a couple of frame brackets. They do not effect your ride when not loaded heavy. Purchase the best shocks you can. Upgrade to a 6 ply tire they should handle 1875# per tire. You could also add a sway bar if you feel it necessary. Use it but don't abuse it. I'll bet a steak supper you can enjoy it and never have a problem.

Hey, I gotta justify my 9mpg f250 pig! 150 is a half ton truck, it may have a big motor, but the frame isn't strong enough for real hauling/loading even if you change suspension. I suppose a shell camper is OK, then you'll have enough left for a light boat/tailer combo

That s exactly what I was thinking raytasch, lol. Almost every F150 is used for more than it was designed for everyday. Heck for years dad used the 79 F150 I have now to pull the 30ft camper to the lake for vacation. And its a 302 truck! Had a brake controller, oil cooler for transmission, and extra leaves in the back. Didn't hurt the truck any im still driving it.
I'm not saying it should be done but it can be done. Good ole Fords.
