What type of hose fittings do I need for a Bosch replacement pump?
I'm looking to get a Bosch replacement pump off of ebay and would like to know what fittings I need to use it with the Hutch mods and pre-filter? Looks like the Bosch comes with the factory style stuff and I'd like to use the barbed fittings. Is the pump just standard style thread?
How ca I convert the factory line from the pump to the fuel bowl to barb style? Or would I be better off running a new rubber line from the pump to the bowl?
I see alot of people using the Bosch pumps but not alot of how they adapted the lines, etc... I haven't been on here in quite some time and when I was on here I was in the 6.4 forum. My 6.4 is up for sale and I'm fixing up the 7.3 to use a daily driver again.
Thanks

i replaced my fuel pump with the original style bosch from clay. and did the in tank mods and a spin on filter outside the tank before the pump . i used a kit from strictly diesel. but you could round the stuff up yourself but it isnt expensive and nice and easy to have every thing you need already, you use rubber line and clamps from the pump back and the stock line up frt at least i did . nothing else needed but the pump and the kit and do the harpoon mod while the tank is down i get 3 or 4 gallons more per fill up now.

What micron rating does the prefilter need to be? I have a few of the stainless screen types laying around from the racecar. i would like to use one of those if possible to keep costs down. I ordered the in-tank kit from SD today and the local parts house has an Airtex replacement pump at a decent price I'm going to use. So hopefully I can get this all done next week while I'm on vacation.

That depends on what you want the filter to accomplish. If it's strictly there to protect the pump from getting any trash sucked up into it then 100 micron is fine. If you want to aid or surpass stock filtration, then of course you can go much smaller. I talked with an engineer at Baldwin when I was trying to determine what filter to stick between my tank and pump. I ended up using the 100 micron and have been happy with it. My engine mounted fuel filter does it's job and the pre-pump filter just keeps the big stuff out of the pump.
