Only if you had other modifications that needed the extra flow. Best bang for the buck is a programmer.

I installed shorties on my 07 Screw 5.4 and gained nothing at all. Not worth the hassel. I'm looking for long tubes now.

thanks for the input guys, would a change from the 04 headers to a set of stock 07 or 08 manifolds make a change? ive seen that they are a little bit different than 04 and supposedly better

As far as performance, there can be gains made with shorty headers, a exhaust modification would need to be made first. If you crawl under your truck and look at the Y to cat tubing it is obvious for any performance gains to be made that tubing should be addressed.

You won't see much in the way of performance gains with shorties or long tube headers. The cats are the restriction in the exhaust system. relieving that back pressure without addressing the air/fuel flow would result in a lean condition and could damage your engine. If performance is what you want, you'll need to do all of your modifications at one time and get a programmer with custom tunes installed to see any real gains. And they would probably be around 20-50 hp at best unless you also supercharge it. Then you could see upwards of 100 hp. But either way, it's expensive to do for the gains you'll see.
