Decoding of warranty plates
Hey all!
Newby here. Not to the Blue Oval tho! Been a Ford guy my whole life.
Anyway, I have recently been given two rusty trucks. One is a 63 and the other is a 66.
I have the warranty plate data, and I was wondering if someone could decode them for me.
The 63:

The 66:
F25YR844795
129, JM, F250, E81, G, B4
7500, 172, 4000, 74

Number Dummy is your man for complete decodes. I have a '66 Ford Truck Shop Manual which can get most of what you want for the '66. Someone else will have to help with the '63. So for the '66: F25 means it's an F250 with two wheel drive. Y = 352 cubic inch V8, 2 bbl carb. R = built in San Jose, CA. 844795 = tells it was built in April, 1966. 129 = wheelbase in inches (it's a longbed). JM = two tone paint. J = Rangoon Red. M = Wimbledon White. Model F250 means it's a 3/4 ton pick-up rated at 7500# GVW. Interior trim E = Red woven plastic and red vinyl. 81 = conventional cab. Transmission G is an automatic. Axle B4 is a Dana 60 limited slip with 4.10 gears. Recommended Max Gross Vehicle Weight is 7500#. Net horsepower is 172 at 4000 rpms. The District Sales Office that ordered the truck (74) is Seattle.

I'd highly suggest you get the VIN issue figured out and straighten out the paperwork on it before you do any more work on it or spend any more $ on it.

Same with the 66. A friend of ours was given the truck, he parted it out the best he could, and offered it to us before he scrapped it. The beds are so rusty on both.
