Dream car- late 70s 4 door lincoln with a 4bt cummins

GM had their Olds 350 diesel, but we all know how well that one went (or rather, how well it didn't!) So in the distant future I'd like to put together my own version a diesel land yatch- A late 70s Lincoln with a 4bt cummins. The cummins has what the olds didn't - reliability and durabiility. Guys have put 4bt engines into pickups and get 20-30 mpg out of them, so why not a big old land yatch like a Lincoln? it probably weighs just as much as a pickup (if not more!) but it is closer to the ground, so I don't think 25 mpg would be unreasonable for this combo.

How tall are those cummins anyway? Lengthwise I'm sure it would fit no problem, it's height that might be the issue.

i'm pretty sure that a 4bt would be way to tall. but I think that a 6at is a little shorter.

i have been considering swb ranger with a mercedes 5cyl.

what it needs is a v6 powerstroke...

In the early 80's they used BMW diesels in the continentals and marks. I saw one in my entire life!

Yea, the sold 10s of those, right?

Y'all shouldn't eat spicy foods before bed and you won't have nightmares like this.

ha, looks like someone beat me to it! I looked up that Lincoln with the BMW motor, interesting combo. That's just about the last motor I would expect in a Lincoln- especially from the factory!

I'd like to build one, but I think for now maybe I should find a 4-door falcon with the 144, 3 on the tree, might be a bit cheaper to get that set up and drive-able.

No spicy foods before bed? Now that's funny right there!
