Sheila: My 1984 Ford Bronco II

So I decided to post a forum here in the Oregon forum; referred by Old93Junk.

This thread is basically about my Bronco II and all the things I want to do with it.

From grave to present (I will post pics when it's not raining) she is alive! I put a new carb. in it and radiator and a couple other things to bring her back to life, now I think it's time to do touch-ups and fine tuning. I want to get her painted and maybe a few other things.
Now that you know a little about myself, I would be very grateful for any ideas that I can put to use for my Bronco; any contribution to this thread at all (I would enjoy any response)
thank you guys so much for reading.

Today I had a problem; my stereo died and when it did die ( putting it in neutral and turning the key off in on fixes this, btw) MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS stopped working. I kinda figured my fuse box was failing; I am not sure what 'hot" I have it hooked up to,it was a wire dangling when I saved the truck from her doom. But the wire doesn't like to stay constant when the truck is running and whatever is happening when the stereo stops, so does my wipers.

Hmmmm.......Sounds like your ign. switch is getting worn, I have been living with this for 6 years on my Ranger. Next time it does this, gently turn the ign. switch towards start (without actually going that far).......I bet your wipers and stereo come right back.

You have done well, Young Jedi...........But know the ways of the Ford force you must!
Like I said, I have been living with a sloppy worn ign. for 6 years, just a minor annoyance...........I would not go sinking money into it, until it won't start because of it.

Maybe I can get a chea one from the junkyard (the junkyards around here there is only 2 bronco II's, one is an xlt. they both have the key) it does bother me, it scares my wife when I cruise and turn the key off and on and there is a faint pop from the muffler. Still haven't got the chance to time it to 12, but I will as soon as I get the time. OOOhh, btw; I am working for Wal*Mart's tire and lube now, they are gonna teach me all they can now I will be able to afford being a living human being.

Also, if I wanted to keep my 2.8 v6, but I wanted a 5 speed tranny, what all would I have to do? What trannys are made for this or which kind can I switch to?? Is it a bad idea to?
Would I need a new transfer case?

I thought you had a 5spd?..........You have a auto?
The TK-5 stock 5spd gearbox for B2s and Rangers are fairly easy to come across in salvage yards racks or on craigs list, good trans. too
If this is your only rig, save up and buy a trans, install it someday when you have the money and time. You will be visiting the J-yard a few times to strip parts off Rangers and B2s to do the swap.

Alright, I just wanted to be able to comfortably go past 55 mph without the engine sounding like I am going 50 in 3rd. If I have a lot of momentum, when I apply the brakes I get a shaking; got any ideas what this is/ how to fix this?

Front brake rotors are warped..............If you have never done a 4x4 front end before, let Les Schwab do it.

Question

K, this maybe a lot to figure out, but I am gonna need a lot of help on this one!

I want to take my ignition apart and basically put it into 2 parts.

The first one would be "key on switch" A switch that ONLY turns the key on, not engine start. That way I can play music and what not with engine off.

The second, of course; is engine start. I want it to be reliant on the "key on" switch, meaning I have to turn the switch on for the button to work and when I switch the "key off" the engine will shut off.

First of all, I think I will need the ignition schematics.

I want the button

to be put here (obvious)

And I want the "key on" switch

to be located where the key release button it

Does this sound like a big project? Am I in over my head? I am pretty good with electrical stuff once I know exactly what wires I am looking at, I believe some labeling will be in order for this project. Is this even possible to do with the wires already provided?

Thanks in advanced for all comments

Btw, I am only looking to buy a few things, like some wire, a button and a switch. Maybe a simple relay or something?

I want this button, I think it will look classy.
